Luv U/A

Lankesh says, the censor certification sums up his film’s title
Luv U/A

With the censor board giving a U/A certificate to Indrajit Lankesh’s Luv U Alia, which is supposed to be a romantic entertainer, the ambitious film boasting several artistes, seems to have cleared the last hurdle before hitting the screens.

Unruffled with the certification, the director says the adult bit of the certificate was because of an item song Kamakshi... and for a lip-lock scene. “I do not wish to argue with the Censor Board. I was in fact glad to get a U/A certificate because it has become a short form of my title. When you put a heart symbol before the U/A certification, it becomes Luv U Alia,” he chuckles. The film is looking at a festival release onSeptember 17  on Ganesh Chaturthi and has a host of actors including Ravichandran, Bhumika Chawla, Chandan, Sangeetha Chauhan, Sadhu Kokila, Sudharani, Shakeela and others.

Censor’s take

According to M Nagendra Swamy, the regional Censor Board officer, Luv U Alia was given a U/A certificate because of extensive usage of double meaning dialogues. “We asked the director to remove it, but he said it was required for the story. We also asked the makers to cut a visual clipping of a Sadhu Kokila episode. The sensual song picturised with Sunny Leone also does not fit the U certificate requirements,” he says adding that the lip-lock scene was not exaggerated and thus not vulgar.
