Ravani Team Makes a Short Film on Kalasa-Banduri

While the entire Kannada film fraternity responded symbolically to the  issue of Kalasa-Banduri Nala project on Sunday, filmmaker Chakravarthy Chandrachud is directing a short film to raise awareness about the issue. He is supported by the entire team of Ravani and actress and producer Pooja Gandhi has come forward to invest in the project. “It is a new experiment by the Ravani team where we want to discuss the real issues faced by the people of North Karnataka. We plan to present the film at Amrutha Bhoomi at Nanjunda Swamy’s memorial in Chamrajnagar,” he says.

Chandrachud has named his short film as Daha Marana (Death from thirst) with a tag line saying, “We miss you professor.”

“Today, it would have been a different case if personalities like P Lankesh, MD Nanjundaswamy were alive. We miss such kind of leaders today and that is why I chose to keep that tag line,” says the director who will soon be roping actors for the film. “Writer, K Nanjunda and Chetana Thirthahalli along with the entire team of Ravani will be working on this project for free. We have started our work and will be finalising everything from the starcast to the finer details soon. We will be shooting at the exact locations where the issue is taking place in North Karnataka. “

The director explains why it was necessary to direct a short film. “While we are still trying to spread awareness about Kalasa Banduri, the question remains just what is the real reason behind the issue. Why  is that politicians are not taking the issue seriously and why haven’t they taken any decision in spite our MPs from Karnataka sitting at the centre? I have been studying a few personalities like Anna Hazare who fought for various issues. Even Ravani is focused on North Karnataka people, but we can’t give importance to one particular issue as it is made with commercial elements.”

Pooja initiated this short film and this time on her birthday (October 7), the actress plans to come up with meaningful social activity.

The makers also adds, “ The Prime Minister should also take the responsibility to sort this issue. The film will reach all those politicians who have taken the matter very lightly.
