SrutHi Hariharan to Make her Small-screen Debut

The actress will be the celebrity judge on a dance reality show, along with Chinni Prakash and Sharmiela Mandre

Sruthi Hariharan who started as a background dancer with choreographer Imran Sardariya has proved her mettle as an actor  in Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam films. And, she is now all set to come on the small screen and will be seen as a celebrity judge in a dance reality show called Dance Dance in Kannada along with ace choreographer Chinni Prakash and  another Kannada actress Sharmiela Mandre. The show will be hosted by popular anchor Akul Balaji and is likely to be aired from February first week on Suvarna.

Mostly known to the Kannada industry as the Lucia girl, Sruthi tells City Express about her decision to debut on small screen.

“I love dancing and it has never been a secret. More so, I am trained in Bharatanatyam and contemporary dance. The channel came to know about my passion for dancing and invited me to be the celebrity judge. I wanted to be on this show because I love dance. Along with films, if I have to be in touch with the dance scene, this is the way. This also allows me to get in touch with people who love dancing. I am also excited about the format of the show, which is not like the regular dance competitions that we have been watching on television,” she shares.

Apparently, she had auditioned for quite a few dance reality shows long before making a success of acting, and never got through. “I guess things happen for a reason or I was meant to do other things and now I am debuting on the small screen as a judge. What is more exciting is to be judging along with dance choreographer, Chinni Prakash, who is considered a legend. He is a man who made Ravichandran dance in Premaloka and Shah Rukh Khan do the lungi dance in Chennai

Express. To rub shoulders with him and the beautiful Sharmiela as a judge has made me nervous and excited,” she says.

While the actress has three Tamil films in her kitty, on the Kannada front, she is done with the shooting of

A Harsha’s Maruthi 800 and is currently shooting for Madha Mathu Manasi with Prajwal Devaraj, a film directed by Sathish Pradan. “I am now looking forward to the release of  Godhi Banna Sadharana Maikattu directed by Hemanth Rao and Sipaayi. Both are at the post-production stage now,” says the actress.

She has also accepted another new project titled Urvi to be directed by Pradeep Varma, who will be making his debut with this film.
