Anup Bhandari’s Rajaratha, being made in Kannada and Telugu, was talk of tinsel town when the director managed to rope in south Indian actor Arya for his Sandalwood film. And now, the latest to join the cast is none other than Sruthi Hariharan.

The actress is excited to work with an Anup project, in which she will be playing a special role. Sruthi says that she was doing the film out of friendship. “I have always wanted to work with brothers Anup and actor Nirup Bhandari.

I had come to know that when they were casting for Rangitaranga, which was when my movie Lucia had been released, they had wanted to cast me for their runaway hit... but that didn’t happen. Anup mentioned this when the film was released and, from then on, I was open to working with them,” she says.

So, the minute the director called her and spoke to her about a role in the bilingual film, she had no second thoughts.

“I knew that Anup would call only if he needed me for his film,” she says, adding, “I had just completed shooting for a film in Mysuru and was happy to be have been offered a good role in their project. I can’t wait for the audience to watch the film.”

The film, starring Nirup Bhandari and Avantika Shetty, will be made under Jollyhits, produced by Ajay Reddy and Sathish Shastry. Rajaratha has background score by Ajaneesh Loknath and music by Anup Bhandari.
