There are some directors who are very particular about their film titles. And one among them is Mahesh Babu. The film, which is now in the post-production stage, has finally been given a title, and the director has proudly announced, “My film is named Athiratha,” There is an interesting reason as to why Babu has been waiting to name his film.
“I have been quite sentimental towards naming my film with the letter ‘A’, which has been the case with films starring Puneeth, like Arasu and Akash. So I had a tough time searching for a title. When I finally got one, the same name was owned by somebody. Thankfully, he was fine with letting me use it.
Athiratha stars Chetan and Latha Hegde in the lead roles.
Latha Hegde dubbing her own lines is a delight, says the director. The actress mother tongue is Kannada, but she has lived in Australia her whole life.
Only when she had to make her Sandalwood debut was when she came down to Karnataka.
“I saw how confident Latha was with the language when she entered the studio. I appreciate that she dubbed for the film because they are artistes today, who are part of several projects and usually hesitate to do dubing,” says Babu.
Athiratha will soon be going to the censor board. The film is produced by Prem, Dr Venugopal and Gandasi Manjunath. This film marks Suraag’s debut as a music director and cinematography is by Jai Anand.
