Aashiq Abu and Rima have kept their word. Setting a model for others, director Aashiq Abu and actress Rima Kallingal visited the cancer patients at the Ernakulam General Hospital on Thursday, on their wedding eve, and donated a cheque of `10 lakh for the needy cancer patients. They have decided to have a simple wedding at Kakkanad and had planned to contribute the intended expenses towards a noble cause.
The couple, accompanied by P Rajeeve MP, Hibi Eden MLA and RMO Dr Reshmi visited the patients at the Department of Oncology.
The couple also sponsored `20,000 towards the Diet kitchen. Dr Annie, hospital superintendent,
received the cheque.
They strongly believe that marriage is not something that requires lavish celebrations.
After handing over the cheque, the couple visited Justice V R Krishna Iyer. The campaign for a cancer research institute is gaining momentum with many from the film fraternity offering support. Dileep, Innocent and producer Antony Mathew have also joined the fight against cancer.
