Aju on a Roll

Aju Varghese is on a high these days with a line-up of exciting movies

With his endearing screen presence and merry one-liners, Aju Varghese has found a space in Malayalam film industry in a short span of time. The young actor who is still revelling in his chance to share screen space with Mohanlal in Peruchazhi, is expected to be on a high in the coming days too. The youngster has four movies and a short film in his kitty. And what more, Aju will turn into a father in a few months!

The sprightly actor who is busy with the shooting of Anwar Sadik’s Ormayundo Ee Mugham sounds every bit excited. “This is a happy phase of my life,” Aju beams. In Ormayundo Ee Mugham, Aju will join hands with his close buddy Vineeth Sreenivasan once again. Says the actor, “Though the famous title sounds funny, the film is not another laugh riot. It is more of a  breezy romantic outing.” Aju plays Apoorva, an employee of Vineeth’s character in the movie that has Namitha Pramod as the heroine. “Apoorva has a formal relation with his boss in the beginning. But later their rapport turns strong and my character gets access to his boss’s house and even life,” explains Aju. The film also stars seasoned actors like Lakshmi, Rohini, and Aju is all words about his co-stars. He says, “The experience and drive of seniors is helping me in a positive way.” Aju has high hopes about the music of the film that will once again see the hit duo Vineeth-Shaan.

Vellimoonga is another movie in which the actor will be seen along with Biju Menon. In Jibu Jacob’s debut outing, Aju plays Vishnu Namboodhiri, who always tags along with Mamachan, a politician. “Nampoodhiri has a desire to grab a position in Mamachan’s party, the reason why he is accompanying him,” says Aju. The actor feels the movie set against a hilly backdrop has a genuine feel. “The entertainer is rich with realistic situations and comedies,” he says.

In Rejishh Midhila’s Lal Bahadur Shastri, Aju dons the title role of Dharmajan Shastri. Aju’s character is a farmer’s son who comes to the city to give a request to waiver his agriculture loan. In the movie, Jayasurya and Nedumudi Venu act as Lal and Bahadur, and Shastri meets them in a journey. “The story that occurs within a day may happen in anyone’s life,” observes Aju. The actor also has a significant role in Namasthe Bali that is the comeback movie of Roma. “In the female-oriented flick, my character has a tinge of negativity,” says Aju.

Unni Moolam, a short film that will soon hit  Youtube features Aju in lead role. This is the fifth short film of the actor whose previous online outings were all viral.

Quiz the actor whether he has turned selective after a while, he says, “I love to act in movies that can entertain people. I prefer movies that can bring a smile to the audience’ face than the ones which preach morality.”
