KOCHI: Seems like Unni Mukundan has already found a niche in Tollywood.

The beefy actor who just wound up his Telugu debut ‘Janata Garage’ with superstar Mohanlal and NTR Jr has already signed a new project ‘Bhagmathi’ opposite none other than the sensous Anushka Shetty. Says the actor who just wound up the first schedule of the project: “Bhagmathi is a wonderful project and I play the lead opposite Anushka Shetty, whom I am in awe of. She is a great actor which she proved in movies like ‘Arundathi’. I think I couldn’t have asked for a better start as a hero, after the negative role in ‘Janata Garage’.

“When I listened to the script, I was very  impressed because it is a very dialogue-oriented character,” says Unni.

The actor says that the Bhagmathi team made it a point to see all the movies he had done before signing him. “They saw every movie of mine, including ‘The Last Supper’ and the latest ‘Oru Murai Vanth Partaya’,” says Unni. So, is his career taking a turn that big projects are coming his way in Telugu? “Janata Garage happened unexpectedly. I never planned a shift to Telugu. But, whatever roles I got in Tollywood is due to the movies I did in Malayalam. But Telugu is definitely a gratifying experience,” says the actor.
