KOCHI: Award winning Malayalam film Ozhivudivasathe Kali’ (ODK- ‘Off-day game) will be released online through Reelmonk.com from August 10 to 15 for movie fans across the world to watch legally in High Definition. “Until last year, NRKs missed out on over 90% of the releases in the Malayalam industry since very few films were assured a theatre release overseas and independent movies face difficulty in distributing through theatres in India also.
So many were forced to resort to downloading them through torrent networks. However, of late, producers have started to legally release Malayalam films for foreign audiences that can be streamed or downloaded anywhere, anytime within a few months after the theatrical release in full HD quality and can be downloaded to a laptop or PC or even streamed to TV via HDMI.” Said Vivek Paul, CEO & Co-founder, Reelmonk.com.
The film narrates five friends, Dharman, Dasan, Vinayan, Thirumeni and Ashokan who on an election day escape their usual routine for a fun and frolic day inside a forest. Even though the five friends seemingly share a bond of long-lasting friendship, their difference in attitude and views are distinctly evident throughout the movie. The film will available for download at a onetime payment of Rs 180(SD quality) or INR 300(HD quality).
“Defying the popular belief that art house movies will not be successful in theatres, ODK attracted a huge crowd during its theatre run. As more and more positive reviews came, even malayalis outside kerala started demanding for the movie to be made available for viewing .
However, as there was no possible modes for the distribution of the movie there, Online release was the only option and We are expecting each and every movie lovers to watch it,” Said Sanal Kumar Sasidharan,Director. ODK is based on the short story with the same name by Unni R, had won the awards for the Best Film and the Best sync sound recording, at the 46 th Kerala State Film Awards.
