THRISSUR: Deepa Nishant once again expresses her firm stand on the recent public discontent on taking back actor Dileep to AMMA, the organization of Malayalam actors.
On her facebook page, Deepa, an Associate Professor at Sree Kerala Varma College from Thrissur, said that she would not participate in the Vaikom Muhammmad Bahseer Memorial award function at Kozhikkode on July 1.
Deepa said that, Oormila Unni, who presented the actor Dileep's inclusion in the organization during their meeting, will be attending the award function.
In her Facebook post, Deepa wrote, "Nothing is going to happen if I don't participate. but, there will be a problem for me if I participate" She went on to say that once Oormila Unni, had told in a debate that Kerala women don't have safety concerns at night.
In the same discussion, Oormila also said that previous night she had come from Chennai at night and took a taxi from airport to home and that she had not had any safety issues. "I don't expect anything more from such people. Everyone may not have the privileges that we enjoy and when we talk we should also realize it," she said.
Deepa also expressed her view that she was not with her (the actress who went through the abduction and consequent issues), rather, I am herself. "It can happen to me also anytime and I am very much aware of that. When I return home after work, a car can stop beside me and kidnap me. As my strong protest towards those people who sees such incidents as trivial, I withdraw from participating from the award function," she added.
