“I’ve been a huge fan of Kamal sir ever since I can remember. It’s a dream come true working with him in my second film itself,” says a delighted Ganesh Venkatraman, who is acting in RKFI and UTV’s Unnai Pol Uruvan.
While the local actors are sweating it out for the right break, Mumbai-based Ganesh cakewalked into Kollywood bagging Abhiyum Naanum, whose Telugu version Akashamantha is also a big hit. Now, his second film is with both Kamal and Mohanlal. Talking about Mohanlal he recalls, “He is so humble despite being a big star. On my first day of shoot I was rehearsing my lines. He came up to me, adjusted my hair and collar and said ‘Ok, your looking good handsome’. I will always cherish this memory. The gesture took me by surprise and put me at ease instantly.” Recounting the experience he says, “It’s a great honour to be in this film because Kamal sir handpicks his actors. Even when I’m not shooting, I am on the sets observing the Kamal- Mohanlal scenes. It’s a rare learning experience for any actor.” The learning curve extends to director Chakri too. “I learn from his Hollywood experience,” he signs off.
