When superstar Rajinikanth’s previous film 'Enthiran’s audio was launched in Malaysia among much fanfare, it turned out to be a festival of sorts. No prizes for guessing that the makers of his next, 'Kochadaiyaan', would want something along similar lines or may be even more.

Eros International & Mediaone Global Entertainment have chosen Japan’s capital Tokyo as the launching pad for the music of the Rajini-starrer because the superstar has a huge fan base in Japan and all his movies are known to run packed houses there.

With Soundarya R Ashwin’s maiden attempt at direction and K S Ravikumar  donning the advisor’s cap, 'Kochadaiyaan' is said to be the first Tamil film to be made used the motion-capture technology. The unit returned from London more than a couple of months ago after shooting important scenes using the technology.

The film, which has Deepika Padukone as the female lead and actors Nasser, Jackie Shroff, Sarathkumar and Adhi in important roles, is a period flick and is said to be revolving around two generations of warrior kings.

The producers of the film have sold the Tamil satellite rights to Jaya TV for an undisclosed, but a huge sum of money. The Telugu rights have been sold to Lakshmi Ganapathy Films, Hyderabad.  Kochadaiyaan will also mark the beginning of a new trend in the film industry, as the producers have collaborated with Karbonn mobiles to launch a special edition of mobile phones. Named Karbonn Kochadaiyaan, these phones will come embedded with behind-the-scene footage, movie trailers and songs, Rajnikanth’s popular film dialogues and wall papers. What’s more, the handsets will also bear Rajnikanth’s digital signature on the rear of the phone.

The movie, according to the producers, will hit screens later this year, with multi-city premieres in London, LA and India.
