The makers of the film, Case No 18/9 recently donated a Rs 1 lakh to Shruthi, an acid attack victim in real life and an inspiration for making the original film.

Tamil film director Balaji Shaktivel is said to have got inspired by the incident and his film, Vazhakku Enn 18/9 was a film based on Shruti’s life. Director Mahesh Rao, who did the Kannada version had invited Shruti for a press conference and donated the money.

Shruti urged the government to ban sale of acid and address the problems of acid attack victims.
