Vijay fans ransack VCD shop, 5 held

Five fans of actor Vijay were arrested on charges of ransacking a VCD retail shop in Aranthangi on Monday night after a scuffle that erupted over the sale of pirated ‘Thalaiva’ VCDs.

Sources said, Gunasekaran of Subramaniyapuram near Aranthangi was running a VCD retail shop at Gandhipark road. On Tuesday, a fan of Vijay came asking for the VCD of ‘Thalaiva’. When Gunasekaran said that the VCD was available at his shop, he left and later returned with a group of 50 people and ransacked the shop. The group also assaulted Gunasekaran.

On information, a police team rushed to the spot and arrested Jeeva, Murugaiya,  Satheesh, Mohamed and Suresh. 

Meanwhile, Vijay’s Fans in Tiruchy and Coimbatore petitioned the commissioners of police of their respective cities to take necessary steps to prevent the sale and circulation of pirated CD’s of movie ‘Thalaivaa’, on Tuesday. Over 100 youth, led by by RK Raja, president of Vijay fans association, submitted a petition to the Tiruchy Commissioner Sylesh Kumar Yadhav.
