'2015, an Important Year For Me and My Career'

...says actor Taapsee Pannu, who had no releases this year, and is raring to go with two films each in Kollywood and Bollywood

It has been a rather dull year for Taapsee Pannu. She hasn’t had even a single film release in 2014. And the pretty lass herself finds it a tad weird that she had no releases this year.

Speaking to City Express after the audio launch of  Vai Raja Vai, in which she will be seen making a cameo appearance, Taapsee says with a sense of dejection, “I find it a bit strange that none of my movies released this year. It is an awkward moment for me.” However, she quickly adds, “But the fact remains that I was extremely busy with shooting. Apart from working on the Tamil film Muni 3: Ganga, which demanded a lot of hard work, I was also shooting for Runningshaadi.com, a Bollywood flick that’s being directed by Amit Roy. Both may release next year.”

So, does that mean that 2015 is going to be a crucial year for her, given that her second Bollywood movie Baby, starring biggies like Akshay Kumar, Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher and Kay Kay Menon, is going to release earlier next year?

“2015, no doubt, is a very important year for me and my career. Baby is that kind of a movie I’ve always wanted to be associated with. For now, I’ve two Bollywood films and two Kollywood films lined up and I hope they release the following year. So, I’m obviously excited,” she tells us.

Talking about her role in Vai Raja Vai, Taapsee reveals that it’s going to be a purpose-oriented one and that she will be seen only for a short period of time.

“Though I’ll be seen making a cameo appearance, my role in the movie is quite powerful. Shreya, which is the name of the character I play, is neither the villain nor someone who would be seen romancing the hero. She has a purpose and she is there to finish her job and move on,” discloses the Aadukalam girl.

Taapsee’s last Bollywood movie Chashme Badoor, which released last year, was a hit at the box office and Taapsee’s performance was widely appreciated.

Now Baby, an action thriller, which is all set to hit the screens on January 23, 2015, seems to be a major film for Taapsee.

“Baby is a crucial film for me and I’m satisfied with my performance in the movie. I’ll be seen playing an undercover agent and I must say, I enjoyed the entire shoot,” she says. “The movie actually began with a fight sequence I was a part of, and it was extremely exhilarating,” she says.

How was it working with actor Akshay Kumar and director Neeraj Pandey? “Oh! That was just wonderful,” she exclaims.

“Akshay is not the person you normally see on screen. He is calm and composed. I think he never gets angry in real life. His comedy timing is perfect,” she tells us.

“As far as director Neeraj is concerned, I don’t know what to say. He is so talented yet so unruffled. I was actually felt intimidated to work with a person of such a calibre,” she adds as she signs off.
