Pooja Kumar a Female Don in Her Next Romantic Comedy

Pooja Kumar, who, after working with Kamal Haasan in three films back-to-back, is now working on a feel-good, romantic comedy titled Meenkuzhambbum Manpaanayum.

“While picking a project, I always look at the story, my character in it and the director of the film. I look for interesting characters to play. In Vishwaroopam (2013), I played a scientist and in Uttama Villain (2015), I played an actor. All characters in Kamal sir’s films are different and challenging. This role too was different and challenging, so I chose this project,” says Pooja. Sources in the industry say the actor plays a don in the film, which is being directed by Amudeshver .

Yes, I do play a female don in the film. I am paired opposite Prabhu sir and Kalidas plays his son in it,” she says.

Pooja has never hesitated to do stunts. She performed her own stunts in both Vishawaroopam and Uttama Villain. Has she had to perform stunts in Meenkuzhambbum Manpannayum as well? “Yes. I did the back flips in Uttama Villain and stunts in Vishwaroopam. In this film too, I have had to perform stunts,” she smiles.

The actor, whose mother tongue is Hindi, is now busy attending Tamil classes to learn the language. “I am making an effort to learn the language from my Tamil tutor, Babu sir” says Pooja, admitting that she may dub for her character.

Pooja added that like in all her films, she rehearsed her role before actually shooting for it. “I believe in rehearsing for a role. I sat with the director and assistant directors prior to shooting to work on my character and that has helped me enhance my performance,” she explains.
