Varun to play a fireman in Neruppuda

The actor now plays the second lead in Vikram Prabhu’s maiden production venture Neruppuda.

Grandson of yesteryear actor Isari Velan, Varun Kamal, who debuted with Oru Naal Iravil (2015), has a reason to smile. Having bagged substantial roles in films like psycho-emotional romantic dark comedy Vinodhan (2015) and Jayam Ravi’s Bogan, the actor now plays the second lead in Vikram Prabhu’s maiden production venture Neruppuda. He will shoot simultaneously for these three movies.

The story is about firemen, says Varun, adding that he will be seen throughout the film. “It’s an exciting script that revolves around five firemen. Nikki Galrani plays the female lead. It’s a thriller comedy along the lines of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015). We will begin shooting today,” says the actor, adding that doesn’t see himself as just a hero. “I am a serious actor, willing to portray any character that interests me. Heroes have fixed formats, right? I don’t want to do that,” he clarifies.

In Bogan, Varun plays a police officer and in Vinodhan, he plays a guy suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). “So far, every film has been a great learning experience,” he smiles.
