Actor Vishal, who is also the South Indian Artistes Association secretary, on Monday vowed to take on those indulging in video piracy. Speaking at a press conference to announce the release date of his upcoming action entertainer, Marudhu, the actor said, “I have been fighting this menace (piracy) and will continue to do so. I urge the entire industry to come together.”
He added, “I am not speaking just for the sake of my film, but for all films. Marudhu will be released on May 20 and those indulging in video piracy will look to make pirated CDs and DVDs of this film as well. If I catch those responsible for this crime, I will produce them before the concerned authorities and file a complaint with the Producers’ Council, urging them to iniate action against those aiding the crime.”
Talking about Marudhu, directed by Muthiah of Komban (2015) fame, Vishal said, “Just like how Sandakozhi (2005), which is still screened in villages during festivals, made me popular even in the remote areas of the state, this film will take me to every corner of the state. The film will be released in Telugu as Rayudu on May 20.” Stating that he gave his all for the film, Vishal was all praise for the director. “After Bala’s Avan Ivan (2011), I have given my 100% for this film. Muthiah’s next film will be for our banner.”
The film also features actor Radha Ravi, against whom Vishal and his team contested the Nadigar Sangam elections. Vishal, who realised that people were curious to know his experience of working with someone against whom he contested, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Radha Ravi sir.” Actor Sri Divya, who plays the female lead, said, “Usually, when you work on a film, you do not know how it is going to fare at the box office. But, in this case, all of us knew that the film would be a hit even while we were working on it.”
