Filmmaker Aishwaryaa Dhanush met the Union Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and submitted a letter requesting the introduction of Stunt Choreography Category in National Film Awards recently.
She showed him bits and pieces of Cinema Veeran, her pet project, a documentary on the legendary stuntmen of Tamil cinema, which will have a voice-over by Rajinikanth and music maestro AR Rahman’s music ensemble Qutb e Kripa on the background music.
Claiming that the project will be a tribute to the unsung heroes of the film industry, the initiative is also to commemorate 50 years of Tamil cinema’s Stunt Union. The Vai Raja Vai (2015) director said that Naidu was impressed seeing it. Meanwhile, her husband Dhanush lauded her step by tweeting: “Aishwaryaa, very well done. Hope it happens.”
Interestingly, Dhanush’s directorial debut Power Paandi also revolves around the lives of stuntmen! Also she’ll be launching her book Standing On An Apple Box, which throws light on the relationship she shares with her Superstar father, which will be released on Rajinikanth’s birthday (December 12) this year.
