Acting in a role with varied shades is a tough task, add to it, a different language and it gets even more challenging. However, for debutante Salony Luthra, the big pay off did come with the success of her Tamil film Sarabham directed by Gaurav Menon.

Cast opposite actor Naveen Chandra in the film, the actress who bears a striking resemblance to Angelina Jolie is upbeat about Sarabham being dubbed in Telugu.

“I’m really happy with the kind of response and recognition the movie has received and I couldn’t have asked for a better launchpad,” says Salony Luthra.

In an industry where films are mostly male-dominated, the 24-year old is thankful she got to experiment with her role.

“I feel very lucky to have gotten a character so diverse in my first film. It’s two different characters in the film that I’m playing. Be it the language, the dialogues and even the fair bit of action I did – was all very difficult but I’m happy with the outcome,” shares Salony, who has received rave reviews for her performance in the thriller.

Getting into films was always on the cards for Salony though it was interspersed with her taking up some modeling and advertisements along the way. “I have always been interested in films and it has been a dream from childhood. When the story of Sarabham came to me, I was just blown away by it and just had to do it,”comments Salony.

A trained dancer in Bollywood freestyle along with Kathak, the talented actress has a background in theatre as well which she says held in her good stead when it came to acting in the film.

“Having trained under Delhi-based NK Sharma’s theatre group, I think theatre acting helped me a lot when it came to portraying the myriad emotions onscreen,” opines Salony, who is open to acting in the Telugu film industry as well. At present, the actress is busy looking at new projects.
