POWER

Even though Pawan Kalyan has disappeared with his immediate family to an undisclosed location, the Telugu film industry left no stone unturned to celebrate the Powerstar’s 44th birthday. From special songs to teasers to specially made videos -- Twitter went into overdrive with tributes to the actor-politician.

With Pawan physically absent on his birthday – like he does every year – virtual celebrations took over, as many from his star family released clips of their forthcoming movies to mark the occasion.

As promised, the team of his upcoming film Sardaar Gabbar Singh released a special teaser from the film at the stroke of midnight, as a birthday gift to the Powerstar and his fans. The 30 second trailer appears to be straight from a Clint Eastwood movie and has a typical cowboy appeal to it (apparent in the visuals and the music). Appearing in a Khaki-clad cop avatar, Pawan is accompanied by a horse, as he walks in his inimitable swagger. While the short teaser gives nothing away, a sequel to 2012 blockbuster Gabbar Singh, the film has plenty for Pawan fans to cheer about. The actor dramatically puts on his dark glasses and pauses for the effect, as he begins to walk beside the horse.

Needless to say, the teaser went viral on social media and was the top trending topic in the country within minutes of being uploaded on Twitter and Facebook.

Virtual celebrations didn’t stop just with Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Other members of the ‘mega’ family showered wishes with tweets, posters and special teasers. Most notably, a teaser of Ram Charan’s upcoming film Bruce Lee was launched on the occasion by Srinu Vaitla, the film’s director.  Dharam Tej, who’s awaiting the release of Sale of Subramanyam, also launched a special teaser, where he speaks of the craze generated by Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh. Actor Nikhil Siddharth’s Shankara Bharanam team also launched a special ‘Pawanism’ song on Twitter, on the eve of the power star’s birthday.

Meanwhile, Sharrath Marar, who’s co-producing Sardaar Gabbar Singh announced that Pawan would soon join the shoot for the film, which will take place in Hyderabad later this week.

Directed by KS Ravindra, Sardaar Gabbar Singh also features Kajal Aggarwal in an important role and is slated to release early next year.

Raai Laxmi in Sardaar Gabbar Singh

POWER1.jpgIn a surprise addition to Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited Sardaar Gabbar Singh, actress Raai Laxmi will be essaying a role and shaking a leg with the Powerstar in the film directed by KS Ravindra.

Laxmi, who has mainly featured in Tamil and Malayalam films, made the announcement on Twitter, on Pawan Kalyan’s 44th Birthday. “Here is the news to all Pawan Kalyan fans. I’m doing an interesting, important role in Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Excited! You will also see me shaking a leg with him for the first time and I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a treat to all my Telugu fans,” Raai posted on Twitter.

If she will feature as a second lead or in a cameo appearance – remains to be seen.
