Sadhu Kokila turns Mangalamukhi in Pataki

His versatility and comic timing stays with the audience even after the movie's run.

Sadhu Kokila is one of the funniest actors of Sandalwood. His versatility and comic timing stays with the audience even after the movie's run. This time, he has tried to combine humour with a message in Ganesh-starrer Pataki, directed by Manju Swaraj. As Mangalamukhi, Sadhu will play a full-fledged role for the first-time in the film, inspired by a Telugu hit Pataas. According to the director, the original had little screen-time for the transgender's character but, in the Kannada version, the character has a lengthier role. "Mangalamukhi actually causes the turning point in our film. We had to change the screenplay to give more importance for this character," says the director.

Ganesh and Sadhu's combination worked well in Zoom, and Pataki will be another joyride. The film also comes with a social message. "We explore why they end up begging on streets. Sadhu's character also discusses the absence of facilities, like public toilets, for transgenders," he says.

With the talky portions done, the film produced by SV Babu  has a song shoot left, which the team plans to start from the second week of August.
