Film actor JV Ramana Murthy passes away

HYDERABAD: Noted stage artiste and film actor JV Ramana Murthy passed away here on Wednesday. The 83-year-old actor, brother of ‘Shankarabharanam’ fame JV Somayajulu, breathed his last at a corporate hospital here, while undergoing treatment for a heart related ailment.

Born on May 20, 1933 in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, Jonnalagadda Venkata Ramana Murthy had started acting in dramas right from his childhood. He had acted in plays like NGO, Kappalu, Evaru Donga, Keerthi Seshulu among others.

He earned special recognition for himself for his portrayal as Gireesham in Gurazada’s ‘Kanyasulkam’ drama.

The seasoned actor had made his debut in movies in 1957 with ‘MLA’ movie. He had acted in more than 150 films in his career. Batasaari, Maro Charitra, Gorintaku, Aakali Rajyam, Saptapadi, Shubalekha, Sirivennela, Ananda Bhairavi, Kartavyam, Shankardada Zindabad were some of his famous movies.
