Actor Prasanna will return to Telugu cinema to play the antagonist in upcoming thriller Jawaan, which stars Sai Dharam Tej and Mehreen in the lead.
This will be his second Telugu outing after Nagarjuna-starrer Bhai, and Jawaan director BVS Ravi believes this role could be a game changer for him. “It’s unlike anything he’s done so far in his career.
He plays a pivotal role that’s on par with Tej, and he won’t be seen as a typical villain,” Ravi told Hyderabad Express.
Prasanna’s recent physical transformation had caught the eyes of a lot of filmmakers, including Ravi. “His chiseled body is a bonus to the character. Beyond the physical transformation, he’s someone who has proven his mettle with interesting characters and I was convinced he could do justice to this role.”
The regular shooting will commence from March and the entire talkie portion will be shot in Hyderabad. “We are planning to shoot two songs abroad but we still haven’t finalized locations. Thaman has already composed three songs.”
Refuting rumours that Tej plays a soldier, Ravi said, “We chose Jawaan to highlight something young. Tej plays a patriot, and he chooses country over his family in a conflict. It’s a thriller with all the elements needed to work as a commercial film. Tej will undergo special makeover and will also shed some weight before we go on floors.”
