Feline instinct

Catsuits are making a comeback. In the past few weeks, we’ve! seen the likes of Kim Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra and Taylor Swift stepping out in glamorous catsuits. So, fashion forecasters across the world have predicted that catsuits are definitely here to stay this year. Take cues from these iconic celebrities and turn to names like Emilio Pucci, La Doublej and Alaïa for some statement pieces.

Metallic instinct

Metallics ! never really go out of style but this year, expect to see a special focus on plain metallics, minus sequins, embellishments and glitter. So essentially it’s the fabric itself that will be in great demand. Sequins and glitter will be replaced with textiles like lame, jacquard, shell and silver-coated denim. Labels like Norma Kamali, Emilia Wickstead and Ganni made a strong case for the trend in their latest collections.

Purple passion

Thanks to the Pantone colour of the year being ‘Very Peri! ’ - a shade of purple - the colour is back in the spotlight and expected to be a dominant trend for most of the year. We love Roger Vivier’s satin and leather deep aubergine mules with a cubed crystal heel. Bottega Veneta’s shell and crochet clutch in a lighter shade of purple is also a great way to get in on the trend.

Raise the volume

Fashion forecasters expect the popularity of voluminous and oversized puffy sleeves to continue well into 2022. Zimmermann, Vita Kin and Self Portrait are labels to look up, if you’re interested in making this trend your own.

Chasing leisure

This year was supposed to be the year of our return to normalcy or a semblance of it at the very least. But with 2022 beginning with the spread of the Omicron variant, offices have shut down and working remotely has become our reality once again. As we continue to work from home, the focus shifts back to leisure wear, think comfortable joggers, flowing lounge pants, oversized t-shirts, and for hotter days, cotton trousers and shorts. Head to Fabindia or Jaypore for printed or plain cotton bottoms.
