Tamil Nadu protests over suicide of Dalit girl Anitha who argued against NEET in Supreme Court

Protests broke out in various places in Tamil Nadu today, following the suicide of 17-year-old Dalit student S Anitha yesterday, the face of the state's anti-NEET agitation. Despite scoring high marks in the plus two exams under the Tamil Nadu state board, Anitha got only 86 per cent in the NEET examination which ruined her chances of getting admission. Her death comes nine days after the Supreme Court directed Tamil Nadu to follow NEET for medical admissions and to finish the counselling process by September 4.
