He started his coaching career with Nancy in 1984 and went on to coach Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco as well. In January 1995, he signed a contract with Japanese club Nagoya Grampus Eight. Boro Primorac, the ex-Valenciennes manager, who had previously worked alongside Wenger at Monaco joined his coaching staff team. Over 20 years has passed by, but still Boro Primorac continues to work along with Wenger They led the team Emperor's Cup victory in 1995, a national cup competition in the Land of the Rising Sun. Wenger has a long list of honours and titles to his credit. He was awarded France’s highest decoration, the Legion d’Honneur in 2002. In 2003 he made it to the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
