HYDERABAD: A detailed suicidal post with photographs uploaded on social media by a man from the city went viral in a matter of minutes, throwing the Cyberabad and Hyderabad police into a tizzy with several netizens alerting the police.Two hours later, the Facebook user’s location was traced to Nallakunta police limits. He was tracked, rescued and brought to police station and counselled in the presence of his parents. Over 300 people had commented on the post asking him to think twice and think about his parents discouraging him to proceed with suicide.
Vikas Manu Reddy, an event manager from Shivam Road, had been in a relationship with a woman for the last six years. Recently, the woman started avoiding him after her parents expressed their displeasure.Allegedly dejected over the rejection, Vikas Reddy threatened to end his life via a Facebook post. In the post, he said he drew a monthly salary of `1 lakh which he had been spending on the woman. He also posted a video of him celebrating the woman’s birthday recently.
One of his friends tweeted to Cyberabad police requesting them to rescue him. “We received information via Twitter. We traced his mobile number but it was switched off. We then traced his house location and alerted the Hyderabad police on Twitter,’’ said Sakram, sub-inspector and social networking team member of Cyberabad police.. Nallakunta inspector V Yadagiri Reddy said that after they received information, a police team rescued him.
Man who attempted suicide out of danger
Hyderabad: A sexagenarian consumed poison and walked into Ghatkesar police station on Friday. B Ramachandra Reddy (65) was rushed to a hospital for treatment and was stated to be out of danger. Reddy, a resident of Boduppal, had taken loan from one Sravan Kumar of Ghatkesar. As he failed to pay the money, Sravan lodged a complaint with the police and Reddy had to attend the court proceedings on Friday in connection with the case. At around 11.30 am, Reddy walked into the police station.
