NEW DELHI: In a surprising move, the CBI on Tuesday filed a closure report in alleged Tatra truck scam involving Ravi Rishi, Chairman of the Vectra Group and then Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) chief V R S Natarajan along with other officials of the state-owned company.
The case was handed over to the CBI on March 30, 2012, after the then Army chief V K Singh alleged that Lieutenant General (Rtd) Tejinder Singh had offered him `14 crore for clearing a tranche of “substandard” Tatra trucks.
Natrajan was suspended from BEML position. The closure report filed in the Special CBI court came close on the heels of the CBI charge sheet filed against Tejinder in July claiming there was circumstantial evidence against the retired General.
Earlier in May, the agency had recorded the statement of the then Defence Minister A K Antony and the then Prime Minister’s Adviser T K A Nair in the case.
