BELAGAVI:Kannada organisations have urged the Police Department to initiate strict action against Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti activist Suraj Kanabarkar for making defamatory posts in his Facebook account against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah which could spoil the harmony between both Kannada and Marathi linguists and lead to law and order disturbance.
Leaders of various Kannada organisations who submitted a memorandum to Police Commissioner T G Krishna Bhatt said it was not for the first time that Kanabarkar posted such defamatory and controversial posts against the state, Kannadigas and its language.
Though it was brought to the notice of the district administration and police, no action was initiated, which might have encouraged him to make another post. In his post, Kanabarkar created a caricature in which Siddaramaiah holding Kannada flag in his right hand is running behind a woman and stabbing her from the lower end of the flag pole.
The leaders also told police commissioner that he was misleading people in connection with a Kannada flag hoisted in front of Regional Commissioner’s office. Kananarkar, who is said to have written a letter to Union Home Ministry, had given false information about the flag, they said.

Deepak Gudaganatti, an activist from Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, has filed a complaint against Kanabarkar with Market police over his defamatory Facebook posts and alleged misleading to the Union government by giving false information about the Kannada flag in front of RC office. Police have filed cases under IPC section (153) A and 66 IT Act.
