BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday issued emergent notices to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd Managing Director and the Central Labour Commissioner asking them to appear before the court on or before October 31. The court was hearing a writ petition filed by the BMRCL Employees Union which had objected to the reasons given by BMRCL to deny recognition to the union. Speaking to Express, Suryanarayana Murthy, Vice President of the 940-member Union said, “BMRCL refuses to recognise our union saying Metro staff are all supervisors and there are no workmen in it. Train operators are workmen. The manual of Indian Railways clearly specifies it.”
