KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday directed the police to provide protection to the Orthodox Syrian Church, Nechoor, Ernakulam, and believers for rendering services and prayers at the church, its chapel and cemetery and other establishments.
The court issued the order on a petition filed by the managing trustee and the secretary of the church. According to the petitioners, the rival faction was not allowing them to perform their duties as the trustee and secretary. The police informed the dispute between the two factions have often resulted in aggression during the observance of memorial prayers, funeral ceremony and other functions related to the church.
