Fashion designer Anita Dongre is in the best of health at 49, thanks to a healthy diet, yoga and not pushing her body beyond limits.
“I believe that looking good is what leads to feeling good,” says Dongre, who has successfully experimented with all styles in the world of apparels. Now the veteran designer is foraying into jewellery designing.
She believes in fashion for everyone. So the Anita Dongre woman is the one who is confident about her looks and she feels good because she looks good.
Dongre has also started clay wellness to encourage a healthy lifestyle by infusing a balance between diet, fitness and well being. The centre adopts a 360 degree approach towards creating stress-free lives, with a focus on physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Clay wellness is important because she believes in maintaining a healthy body from the inside out and that’s something one needs to incorporate into the daily routine before anything else. “If I only have a half hour to work out for a day, it has to be yoga. It completely relaxes and rejuvenates me,” says the designer.
Talking about a secret habit that is part of her healthy lifestyle, she says, “One habit that I am extremely proud of is that I never push my body beyond limits. I believe in balancing my work and I ensure that I rest and sleep enough. One should always listen to their body and take the hints that it gives from time to time.”
The designer is also careful with her diet. “I eat sensibly and regularly. I am a vegan,” she says, adding: “I have to really work hard to keep myself fit because I am helplessly sweet-toothed and I am very fond of food. I eat when I am stressed and that is something I definitely need to learn how to handle. It would be an achievement if I could curb my sweet cravings.”
She concludes: “I wish I would taste food without actually having to eat it.”
