Worship the Guru Supreme

Bow down to that Guru whose form is total existence, total knowledge and bliss, who is the omnipresent and supreme self. I bow down to that master of all Gurus whose form radiates with the light of knowledge and bliss.

I salute that Guru who gives knowledge and bliss, who is the knower of that Supreme who is the witness of all thoughts in my intellect. I salute that the Lord who is the very life force and form of the Guru that resides in my heart. To that Guru who fulfils the need for knowledge in the world by taking many forms like the spiritual teachers and masters, my salutations to you.

I salute the Guru whose mind is ever fresh and takes on new forms and roles to achieve the purpose of dispelling ignorance in the world. The Guru is a mass of consciousness like the Sun that dispels darkness, he dispels ignorance.

I prostrate to that Guru who is independent, whose very form is made out of mercy and compassion and who is the very life and auspiciousness of existence. The Guru is the protector of the devotees who are dependent on him and for those who are in existence. He is existence personified.

In those who have the ability to discriminate between what is permanent and impermanent, that faculty is none other than the Guru. In those who shine with the light of knowledge, that knowledge itself is the Guru. Among the wise ones who have realised the truth of existence, that realisation itself is the Guru.

Worship the Guru from the front, from behind, from the sides, in the upward and the downward direction—literally the verse means, the Guru is present everywhere and in all directions.

O Guru may you be pleased to take a seat in my own heart as the very form of my consciousness. I salute Sri Guru, the one who is supreme bliss and the very embodiment of joy, in whose presence the mind flowers into the joy of consciousness.

I surrender to that Guru whose form is ease and naturalness. I worship that Guru whose very immortal words destroy the poison of change, death and rebirth. O Guru you have several means by which you convey the message to the continuous stream of disciples. By your grace, they learn the essential truth that takes them to the abode of Guru-consciousness from which there is no fall. You are endowed with the knowledge of all means to liberation and independence too. Your very form is a dense mass of consciousness and bliss.
