Singularity University is like no other university in the world. Started in partnership with institutions like NASA, Google, Nokia and the X Prize Foundation, it is a non-profit organisation in Silicon Valley that offers annual 10-day programs for senior corporate executives and senior government leaders along with summer courses for graduate and post graduate students. Vivek Wadhwa, the Vice President of Innovations & Research, is one of the most important persons there as he oversees the programs about ‘exponentially growing technologies that are going to change our world’ in fields as diverse as robotics and synthetic biology. Wadhwa, who has a BA in computing studies from the University of Canberra, Australia, and an MBA from the New York University, started life as a software developer. Later he went on to found Relativity Technologies, an application portfolio software management company which was named as one of the 25 coolest companies in the world by Fortune. Wadhwa also holds different positions at universities like Stanford, Duke, Emory, and has previously held positions at the Harvard University and UC-Berkley. He has been awarded the ‘Outstanding American by Choice’ award by the US Government.
