Tech Guru │ Jahan Khanna

After Sidecar’s acquisition by General Motors, Khanna joined Uber to facilitate its ambitious global takeover.

Uber is the world’s fastest growing, yet the most controversial example of how start-ups from the Silicon Valley are taking over the world. In its manic expansion, while Uber is finding a customer base, it is a bit trickier to find the drivers who are willing to offer services for peanuts. To that effect, it has the Vehicle Solutions Program in place, which comes up with car-leasing programmes to attract more people to drive for the company.

With some of the world’s major auto manufacturers like General Motors and Ford coming up with their own car-sharing services, the Vehicle Solutions Program is very important for Uber.

To make this move work, the company is relying on Jahan Khanna, the new product lead of the Vehicle Solutions Program.

Khanna has a BS in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Michigan. During his university days, he developed ‘Magic Bus Project’, and after graduating, co-founded the Shepherd Intelligence System.

He acted as the CTO of the firm, which developed full fleet management and rider interface systems for public and private vehicle fleets.

Later, he quit the company to co-found the Sidecar, a ride-sharing platform, operating in San Francisco and eight other US markets.

After Sidecar’s acquisition by General Motors, Khanna joined Uber to facilitate its ambitious global takeover.
