With 45,882 new COVID-19 infections, India's total cases has crossed the 90 lakh mark

According to the Health Ministry's Friday morning update, the total caseload in the country has risen to 90,04,366.

The death toll has mounted to 1,32,162 with 584 new deaths.

Total active cases is now at 4,43,794 after an increase of 491 in the last 24 hours while total discharged cases is 84,28,410 with 44,807 new discharges in the same time period.

  • With the addition of 152 fresh cases of coronavirus, the tally of infections in Goa reached 46,632 on Friday, an official from the health department said.
  • As many as 198 patients were discharged from various hospitals, while two died of the infection during the day, the official said.
  • With this, the number of recoveries in the coastal state has risen to 44,665 and the toll stands at 672, he said.
  • There are currently 1,295 active cases in the state, he said, adding that a total of 1,763 samples were tested during the day.
  • Madhya Pradesh reports 1,528 cases

  • Madhya Pradesh's coronavirus caseload rose to 1,89,546, after 1,528 persons tested positive for the infection, while nine fatalities pushed the toll to 3,138, a health official said.
  • The state's single-day infection count has crossed the 1,500-mark after 40 days, the official said.
  • Moreover, this is for the first time in November that the number of active cases in the state has crossed the 10,000-mark.
  • A total of 917 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the state's recovery count to 1,76,006, the official said.

    Nagpur on Friday reported 344 COVID-19 cases, taking the district's count to 1,08,000, while 20 deaths increased the toll to 3,570, an official said. The number of people who have been discharged so far stands at 1,00,801, including 203 on Friday, leaving the district with 3,629 active cases, he added.

    Twenty more people died from the novel coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh, taking toll to 7,500 on Friday, while the tally rose to 5.22 lakh with 2,840 new cases, an official said. There are 23,357 active cases and 4.91 lakh people have recovered after 2,220 more people recuperated, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters here.

  • Maharashtra's coronavirus tally on Friday climbed to 17,68,695 with the addition of 5,640 cases, a state health department official said.
  • The state reported 155 deaths during the day, which pushed the fatality count to 46,511, he said.

  • As many as 1,420 new cases of coronavirus infection were found in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, taking the state's caseload to 1,94,402, the health department said on Friday evening.
  • The death toll due to coronavirus reached 3,837 with seven more patients succumbing, it added.
  • At the same time, 1,040 patients also recovered during this period.

  • Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 661 new coronavirus cases, raising the infection count to 1,05,376, while four more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,622, officials said.
  • Of the fresh cases, 253 were reported from the Jammu division and 408 from the Kashmir division, they said.
  • The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 169 cases, followed by 98 in Jammu.
  • There are 5,678 active cases now in the UT, while 98,076 patients have recovered, they said.
  • The UT reported four COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours -- two each from Jammu and Kashmir regions, the officials said.

  • Himachal Pradesh reported 12 more COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, taking the death toll in the state to 481, while 796 new cases pushed the tally to 32,198.
  • Three deaths were reported from Kangra and Kullu each, two each from Mandi and Shimla, one each from Una and Bilaspur, according to health department data.
  • A total of 704 patients recovered from the disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 24,706.
  • Twenty-three people have migrated out of the state, the health department said.

    The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the AAP government by when it can complete its study, recommended by an advisory committee, on efficacy of homeopathic medicines to prevent COVID-19, saying having a timeline was imperative in view of the spurt in coronavirus cases in the national capital. A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad directed the Delhi government to file a fresh status report indicating the timeline for completing the study recommended by the committee in May this year.

    GST, excise collection up in Haryana

  • Despite the coronavirus crisis, Haryana has collected more in GST and excise revenue compared to similar periods last year, according to state government figures.
  • Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Thursday said the state collected Rs 2,563 crore in GST revenue up to October this financial year, compared to Rs 1,543 crore in the corresponding months last year -- a jump of Rs 1,000 crore.
  • The record increase, he claimed, showed that the economy is settling down after the disruption caused by the pandemic that broke out earlier this year.
  • During April 2020, the state's GST collection had come down to Rs 237 crore, a sharp fall due to the lockdown from Rs 1499.98 crore in the same month last year.

  • Madhya Pradesh on Thursday recorded 1,363 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to 1,88,018, while 14 fatalities pushed the toll to 3,129, health officials said.
  • A total of 887 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the state's overall recovery count to 1,75,089, they said.
  • Of the new fatalities, three died in Indore, two each in Gwalior, Sagar and Raisen and one each in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Damoh and Mandsaur, the official said.
  • Out of the 1,363 fresh cases, Bhopal accounted for 231, Indore 255, Gwalior 92 and Jabalpur 60.
  • The number of cases in Indore rose to 36,310, including 722 deaths, while Bhopal's case tally stood at 28,360 with 502 fatalities.

  • Ladakh has reported 60 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally to 7,623, while 66 patients have recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.

  • While 54 deaths had taken place in Leh, 40 others succumbed to the virus in Kargil since the outbreak of the pandemic, the officials said.
