Add a Touch of Luxury

Pooja Taneja Sabhlok of Zolijns says an elegant home is a concept, not a collection of things.

Director of Zolijns, a Delhi-based interior design company since 2011, Pooja Taneja Sabhlok is as passionate about design, as she is about her business

Her affinity towards European design brands and a pertinent understanding of European and contemporary home décor trends comes from one of her personal experiences wherein while designing her home, she undertook an inspiring visit to Milan to gather eclectic décor elements for her home.

It was there that the idea of bringing inspiring European design brands to Indian shores occurred to Pooja and Ashish, which led them to establish Zolijns as a one-stop-boutique of award-winning contemporary European furniture tending to eclectic tastes.

Pooja Sabhlok’s work today is built on a solid foundation of academics. An M.Com from Mumbai University, MA in Human Resources from the University of Leeds, UK, and 14 years of HR experience have added up to yield the sharp business brain and strategy-oriented mind that has made Zolijns a go-to destination for the discerning.

It is not difficult to introduce a touch of luxury into your living space, says Pooja. “One could simply pick up few interesting pieces to change the look, in just a few masterful aesthetical strokes,” she says. “But remember, the space of any house or home is characterised by not just the items arranged in visually appealing manner but it is the concept and the feeling brought out through the presentation.

Simply by using cedar stools like the botte or bier stool you can not only add two functional utility furniture pieces but also add character to your entire space. The cedar wood has its own unique fragrance to add to your lives each day. It can never be an eye sore for sure!

One majestic chair with footstool in the master bedroom or your family lounge would complete the space and will definitely make your day!

Using a beautiful sofa in an area where the back would be in view in woven leather could not get better and appealing. As it’s said, simplicity is design.

Fun Chairs: Two funky looking chairs will not only add colour but that fun aspect to your space. While coming back from work looking forward to slip into the lastika chair could be fun for age groups anywhere from teenagers to young adults!

Ceramics: For your dining tables, storage shelves, centre tables, coffee tables, side tables or even bed side tables you can add the elegant factor with ceramic collection. A handmade piece finished with all natural elements and a lining of 24 carat gold. Also consider a beautiful pair of dream catchers, which breaks the monotony of your space while blending in your bedroom or living area.

Clocks: To accessorise use clocks which are artistically sculpted pieces which not only appeals for a moment but is a constant beauty to look at and is something worth spending each penny on. You can find it in various colours and finishes which will make your walls have a designer cum art value to it. Whether high walls or low heights, clocks can bring that extra zest into your space.

Soft furnishing is a must to be considered for accessorising. Cushions, bed sheets, sheers with or without curtains. Throws and runners add life to your rooms.

The powder toilet! Why leave it behind while accessorising your entire house, it’s the space which will either make or break the impression your guest will have about you for the rest of their life! Here in the wall unit mirrored glass not only acts like a mirror for the toilet, but also when rotated it can act like your storage for basic toiletries.

Lights either make or break your space. Soft architecture can be done at an initial construction stage or even integrated later into your home. Silver or a gold effect to your liking and your mood can be created on the ceiling or the wall or both to give a wow factor.
