His grand-daughter said they suffered from ‘The Hemingway curse’ or mental illness. The author shot himself with his favourite shotgun on July 2, 1961. 

Diana, Princess of Wales

Beneath that fairy princess’ life was an untold story of a woman who searched for love. She was bulimic and suffered from depression. There were also incidents that reported her meltdowns and other self-harming episodes.

Marilyn Monroe, American actress, model and singer

She led a lonely life and almost spent her last days in seclusion. She was even hospitalised for depression and had undergone long-term treatment. Monroe was found dead in her bedroom by her psychiatrist on August 5, 1962. 

Parveen Babi,  Bollywood actress

She had a long history of depression and schizophrenia. She was found dead in her apartment on January 22, 2005.

Audrey Hepburn, British actress

A perfect combination of elegance and beauty, Hepburn spent her childhood in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War II. She had enough reasons to be depressed in her tumultuous young days. Her later life wasn’t smooth either.

Deepika Padukone, Bollywood actress

Padukone recently shared how she battled depression and came out of it. A combination of counselling, medication and family support helped her overcome it.

Angelina Jolie, American actress, filmmaker and humanitarian

Jolie had a troubled childhood and suffered from depression. From causing self-harm to battling addiction, she has overcome it all.
