Tipplers now have 11,400 sq ft of reason to stop over at Changi airport. Luxury travel retailer DFS has opened a spectacular store at Singapore airport’s Terminal 3 for the largest assortment of single malt whisky available at an Asian airport, as well as an unrivalled selection of wine. The creation of Japanese interior designer Masamichi Katayama, the two-storeyed store is high on visual drama that’s accentuated by a double-height atrium measuring over 26 feet and a façade inspired by flowing water and undulating shapes.

On the ground floor are tasting bars, a private lounge and a Long Bar that recreates the Raffles Long Bar experience (complete with the Singapore Sling). On the second floor sit nine branded boutiques—Absolut, Dom Pérignon, Glenfiddich, Hendrick’s, Hennessy, Johnnie Walker, The Macallan, Martell, and Penfolds–showcasing their heritage and finest products. DFS staffers say brand ambassadors and winemakers from leading producers will make regular appearances at the mammoth store, and wine aficionados will be able to shop directly from cellar library stock.
