MUMBAI: Some of the Maharashtra ministers have been nailed by the Comptroller and Auditor General for claiming to be poor for procuring houses in a building constructed on government land in Andheri here.

The MLAs and ministers applied for the society’s membership to own houses, worth several crores of rupees, by claiming that their monthly income was not more than `12,500.

A report in this regard was leaked by BJP MLA Devendra Phadnavis in the Assembly on Wednesday.

He justified this action saying the government was trying to cover up the CAG report.

Some of the ministers and MLAs who became members of the Ashirwad Housing Society in Andheri have applied for houses by blatantly lying in their affidavits.
