NEW DELHI: The NHRC has asked the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission to take note of the incident in which a half-clad 8-year-old child was paraded in bitter cold conditions during the Republic Day celebrations earlier this year.

The apex human rights watchdog was moved by activist lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy. The child was made to sit under a tap and take cold water baths on a tableau, which bagged the third prize, by the Dewas Municipal Corporation, presumably to end water woes. Tripathy said the child was found shivering in the chilly morning as those in the audience included District Collector.
