NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court said Friday that it would consider a plea for an independent investigation into the killing of the top Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad and freelance journalist Hemchandra Pandey in an alleged fake encounter by the AP police who were later given a clean chit by the CBI.

The bench agreed to consider the plea after counsel for petitioner Prashant Bhushan doubted the credibility of the CBI probe because it comes under the  Home Ministry.
