NEW DELHI: Barely 24 hours after Baba Ramdev managed a coup of sorts by forging an alliance with Anna Hazare, the veteran anti-corruption crusader’s camp flayed the Yoga guru over his alleged “one-upmanship”.
Team Anna, which includes Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan and Shanti Bhushan, was caught off-guard, when Ramdev and the septuagenarian activist appeared on TV to announce their strategy to jointly fight terrorism. Sources indicated that Hazare had a hush-hush meeting with Ramdev, which was followed by a press conference. Claiming that they were caught “unawares”, Team Anna members, who requested anonymity, said that “the Yoga guru had demonstrated one-upmanship by unilaterally declaring the slew of agitations”.
“He had sought a meeting to discuss issues. But after the meeting he was forced to attend the media briefing. We have serious objections to it,” a Team Anna said.
