Kanda’s kin held in Geetika suicide case

A close relative of former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, accused of abetting his former employee’s suicide, was detained by city police on Saturday.

A senior police official confirmed that while conducting a search in Kanda’s house and offices, police detained an 18-year-old youth. “A team of around 15 officials on Saturday afternoon raided Kanda’s house in Civil Lines,” a source revealed. The former minister did not turn up for questioning.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court on Saturday extended the police custody of Aruna Chaddha, another employee of Kanda, who too was blamed by Geetika in her suicide note.

Metropolitan Magistrate Manish Khurana allowed custodial grilling of Chaddha till Sunday, after police said the documents of an educational society formed by the MDLR group, of which Geetika was the President, are yet to be recovered.

The police have, however, sought two days custody of Chaddha.
