A businessman was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Assam's troubled Kokrajhar district Friday, police said.
Police
said the deceased has been identified as Tasem Ali, who was also
associated with the All Bodoland Minority Students' Union (ABMSU),
police said.
"Unidentified assailants came on motorcycle around
7.30 p.m. today (Friday) and shot at Ali from a very close range," said
police while quoting the eyewitnesses. Ali died on the spot.
Police,
however, termed the incident to be an isolated one and not related to
the recent clashes between the Bodos and the Bengali-speaking Muslim
settlers that claimed 77 lives and displaced over four lakh people.
