Didi’s bonus pack for college professors

The ongoing debt crisis in West Bengal hasn’t stopped the Mamata Banerjee Government from giving good news to its employees.

Days after the government increased the Durga Puja bonus from `2,100 to `2,500 this year, college teachers were in for a pleasant surprise on Tuesday.

State Finance Minister Amit Mitra announced that professors who had bettered their career graph, by studying M.Phil or PhD, would be receiving increment.

This hike in salaries was effective under the University Grants Commission’s Career Advancement Scheme (CAS).

“According to the UGC’s recommendations, the ‘Ma, Maati’ Manush’ Government, has decided to give compensation under the CAS to professors of government and government-aided colleges who have undergone higher education. It will be effective from November 1,” said Mitra.

This scheme would also be applicable to assistant librarians and physical education teachers.
