Sarabjit’s kin meet Malik

The sister and daughter of Sarabjit Singh, the Indian serving death sentence in a Pakistani prison, on Friday met visiting Pakistani Interior Minister A Rehman Malik and requested his release.

Sarabjit’s sister Daljit Kaur and his daughter Swapandeep Kaur met Malik when he was leaving the hotel after meeting his Indian counterpart Sushilkumar Shinde.

They requested that the family be allowed to meet Sarabjit in the Pakistani prison.

Following this, Malik asked the Pakistani High Commission officials in the Indian capital to provide them family visas to visit Pakistan. “God willing, everything will work out fine,” he told them in response to the demand for Sarabjit’s release.

Earlier, India had discussed Sarabjit’s issue with Pakistan during the delegation-level talks between Shinde and Malik. “The issue was  discussed for about five minutes,” a government source said.
