Bomb hoax caller detained

A 21-year-old from Maharashtra was arrested for making a bomb hoax call to Bangalore police, with an intention of disrupting Tuesday’s India Pakistan T-20 match. The youth, who appears to be ardent fan of late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, wanted to fulfill his idol’s diktat of not allowing Pakistan to play on the Indian soil. The arrested youth has been identified as Amit alias Akshay Bhandari, a native of Ashti village in Beed district.

On Tuesday, Bhandari made the call to Bangalore police between 1.25 pm and 1.30 pm and allegedly warned that there would be a bomb attack at the Chinnaswamy  stadium, Bangalore, which was hosting the match.  “He called up the police from his mobile and warned that there would be twin bomb attacks at the venue, after the completion of the sixth-over. He even told the police that the  attackers would be dressed as Santa Claus,” Police Inspector T R Tandale of Ashti Police station said. He had no problem in communicating with the Bangalore police as he was fluent both in English and Hindi.
