LUCKNOW: High-pitched campaigning for the election to 56 Assembly constituencies in 11 districts, including the state capital Lucknow, came to an end on Friday, 48 hours before the polling on February 19.

Prominent candidates whose fate is to be decided in the fourth phase are UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra, Pramod Tewari of the Congress, social activist-turned-politician Sampal Pal of the famed Gulabi gang, musclemen Akhilesh Singh and Raghuraj Pratap Singh, alias Raja Bhaiyya.

Just one day before the end of the election campaigning, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi undertook a 34-km-long road show and drew an impressive response of in Lucknow, mainly in the Muslim dominated pockets of the Old city.
